The Minimum Listing Price $375,000 and Selling Price was $375,000 with 2 bedrooms, 1 baths, 766 square feet house and 5043 sq ft lot, and 13 days on market. Maximum Listing Price $3,999,000 and Selling Price $3,825,000 with 6 bedrooms, 6 baths, 6995 sq ft home, 30,020 sq ft lot, and 114 days on market.. Average Listing Price $1,525,031 and Selling Price $1,466,339 with 4 bedrooms, 4 baths,  3477 sq ft home 53,340 sq ft lot and 110 days on market.  4 sales were in the price range of 900K to 1000,000 and 8 sales on the $1,100,000 to $1,200,000. Since the Dallas Stars are not playing in the Stanley Cup Finals, I was  cheering for my other favorite hockey team today.  I was glued to the TV, as the Blackhawks edged closer to winning the Stanley Cup.The game reminded me that Monday, June 15,  is Mascot Monday at Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Frisco.   All ages are welcome to enjoy skating with Stars Mascot, Victor E. Unexpected Awesome Kamehameha Day in Waikiki

It was Saturday and I have been in Honolulu for almost three weeks working on a variety of real estate transactions. Today was the day I needed to go see the ocean and take a little "down" time. My destination was the Moana Hotel's Banyan Court at the ocean where I planned to enjoy my favorite, a Strawberry Smoothie!And it became an unexpected magical day.First, I found some free parking right up close to Diamond Head in a luxury home area. That in itself should have made my day. But then, walking across Kapiolani Park towards the ocean, I see three ladies doing the hula. Can't resist taking photos or videos when I see something beautiful like this, so I walked up to them and they invited me to join them. The next half hour or so they taught me one dance and invited me to come join them again to learn more which I plan to do.Continuing my walk along Kapiolani Park, I heard beautiful Hawaiian music and saw that there was a big gathering around the WAIKIKI SHELL, the open air stage on which I had last seen Bill Maher perform a couple of New Year's Eves ago. Turns out it was a Kamehameha Day Celebration (the official day was actually this past Thursday) with entertainment, arts and crafts and food booths.Interestingly, although this was a big event right at the edge of Waikiki, I did not see tourists there.It was all local folks!Visitors, you really missed out because there was some fabulous Hawaiian music including a "falsetto" singer who was fabulous. This video is all about the music! Close your eyes and listen!!! The "kau kau" was also very local, check out the "scoops" list!But onward.Cutting back towards Kalakaua Avenue, I walked along Kuhio Beach and saw a whole bunch of kids having a great time jumping off the pier into incoming surf. This looked like great fun and I need to get my grandsons down here to have a go at it. This is also an excellent place to go Boogie Boarding and start surfing lessons with them.Turning west and into the heart of Waikiki, there they were, the tourists who come by the millions every year to enjoy its wonderful beach and ocean.Finally, I am at the Moana Hotel and I park myself under the banyan tree to sip my smoothie. And for under $10 (let's say $12 with tip), I sit there for the next little while, looking out over the ocean while a wonderful band plays Hawaiian music.What a wonderful day off in Waikiki.Although I'd planned to go swimming, just didn't get to it. But tomorrow is another day in Paradise. We do Ask The Expert calls every week. Our standard number of impressions is somewhere around 10,000 business owners each week. An amazing thing happened the day we hosted an Ask The Expert call about women in business and the challenges they face- we had over 1.5M impressions. What does that tell us? As a female entrepreneur, there are definitely things that I notice a difference to me from my peers. In the corporate environment they were absolute differences between how the men that reported to me led and responded to information, and how their female peers did. My favorite lesson this quarter about the difference between men and women is the level of confidence with which they approach sales.  Someone told me, men are taught to expect no. They spend their whole life asking women on dates with the expectation of more of them say no than would say yes. They play baseball, where if you miss 7 out of 10 balls, your inducted into the Hall of Fame.  Women on the other hand, hate the word no. No is a form of failure.  All you ladies out there, I know you must have heard of Sheryl Sandberg. I, like millions of other women read 'Lean In' and was incredibly moved. I completely connected with things that were said and still challenge myself every day to lean in.After one of our Peer Advisory Board meetings this week, a predominately female group discussed similar challenges closing a sale. One of the men in this group (a gifted closer) jumped up and started extolling "fail proof strategies" to close a sale. The challenge was, when a woman tries to close like anyone else but a themselves, the authenticity evaporates but so do the results.As the meeting progressed, an honest conversation about the differences between male and female entrepreneurs erupted.   These were some common themes:1. Women like to help and solve problems as part of building a relationship; which often times backfires as the prospective client adapts a "Why buy the cow..." philosophy.2. Women don't enjoy the hard sell tactics men seem so comfortable with leveraging.3. There was a common gap between talent and confidence level. Even the most confident and talented woman in the group shared that she didn't have  the same level of confidence as her male competitors.4. Women lack the support of other women.5. Women have to balance running a household with running a business. The beauty of our Peer Advisory boards is what happened next. These talented CEOs pulled together to support each other, offer advice and create a plan to overcome some of the challenges they faced. Here was some of the advice they had for each other:1. Be authentic. Challenege yourself to ask questions that build relationships and stir awareness in your prospective client. Guard your output in the sales process.2. Learn affirmative phrases that reflect your confidence and match your personality, such as "Oh Jeez, I'm so sorry you're going through that. I've helped several clients with the same problem and I know how much pain they were in before we solved it. Let me just tell you, it can get easier." 3. Women need to back up their message with solid business case. Prepare for any possible question prior to going into a meeting. Remember, your advantage is your intuitive thinking. Women tend to have a much stronger pulse on the emotional IQ of their prospective client than a man will. Go in knowing that you have the advantage.4. Be OK with not being at every PTO meeting or field trip. An investment in a housekeeper is sometimes a far better investment than other business expenses. If you can do things to leave your distractions and stress at the door, you'll be more focused on your family and your business.5. A Lesson Every Entrepreneur Should Learn from Jazz Legend Les Paul Les Paul, jazz entrepreneur and his story of determination and perseverance In honor of what would be Les Paul's 100th birthday, I thought I'd leverage him as an example of perseverance, determination, and unwavering spirit. Les Paul is a jazz musician who was told very early on that he had no musical ability at all. He went on to create the Les Paul guitar, which has become the guitar of rock legends. His career was not only highlighted by his successful guitar business, but by overcoming naysayers and building a musical library worthy of kings. At a young age, Les Paul was told by teachers and tutors that he had no musical ability. His many records prove them wrong. What I want to remind you of is his perseverance in time of tragedy and extreme adversity. His determination to overcome all odds and stay focused on his craft clearly sets an example for all entrepreneurs. Les Paul was in a car accident in 1948 that put him in a full body cast. He not only had his elbow, which would have no mobility, set in order for him to continue to hold his guitar, but with only one hand found a way to continue to produce records and complete his album. Les Paul had a stand built to hold his guitar against the body cast, and with his one good thumb attached a pick. He was able to complete his album and finish his work. That jazz album was produced on time and went on to win much accolade and award. I wonder how often in the face of adversity, we persevere and see our mission through.
